WATER CONDITIONING

Frequently Asked Questions about our “Green” Water Conditioning System

  • What does the Enviro-Pura Five Stage Water Conditioner do?

    • It prevents the formation of hard water scale in water heaters and pipes
    • It stops the formation of hard water scale on shower doors and fixtures
    • It prevents hard water “bathtub ring” and reduces the amount of soap and detergent needed
    • It reduces chlorine and chloramine from the water to improve quality, taste, and odor
    • Controls the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms
    • Reduces levels of heavy metals such as lead
  • This sounds like a combination water softener and carbon filter. Is this true?

    • It is very similar but provides a much longer life, greater efficiencies, and is much more ecologically friendly.
  • What are some of these features?

    • It is all done in one space saving Single Tank/Multi-Stage design that measures less than 60” high and only takes up a circle of one-foot diameter on the floor.
    • There is no regeneration chemicals (like salt) that produce run off which discharges into the sewer system.
  • Does a regular water softener use a lot of salt??

    • It depends on the hardness of the water and also the number of people in the hom Based on the averages the savings would be over 700 pounds of salt per year! That is almost $100 per year, over $1,000 over the typical 10 year period.
  • Do regular water softeners waste a lot of water?

    • It depends on the water hardness, softener design, and the family size.
    • The average water usage is about 10,000 gallons a year.
    • There is some wasted water within the Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) process in general. For each unit of drinkable water there are multiple units of wasted water.
    • All Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) units waste some water, some waste more than others. Some systems use as much as 10 gallons of water to produce one gallon of treated water.
  • Sounds like this unit is VERY friendly to the environment. Is this true?

    • Yes. In many parts of the USA there are laws that prevent the discharge of salt into municipal sewers. Imagine the problems that could be caused by excess water softener salt discharge in a large city.
  • How does our Water Conditioner work?

    • The scale prevention process is quite simple. We use a patented magneto hydrodynamic device (conditioner) to change the calcium (hardness) in the water from a dissolved material to sub-microscopic particles that wash through the plumbing system without being able to connect themselves to the pipes or heaters.
  • What about Chlorine removal?

    • The material we employ (KDF55) uses a process that turns the chlorine to harmless zinc chloride.
  • Will the water test soft?

    • No, because the test for hardness is a test for the presence of hard minerals. Remember that the Calcium and Magnesium remain in the water but in an altered form without the properties of hard minerals.
  • I thought all equipment had to have a valve, why not yours?

    • We have a constant upward flow path that keeps the filter media in constant motion thus it cannot pack down and collect dirt.
  • What is the difference between our conditioned water and salt treated water?

    • The water will not feel slippery to the touch. The slippery feeling is caused by the salt reacting to the natural oils in your skin.
    • We add nothing to the water. This is important because people who are sensitive to salt or need to maintain a low sodium diet would be ill served by a salt based system.
  • How does the water impact plants?

    • There is an unusual phenomenon that occurs. The surface tension of the water is reduced. This is often called ‘making the water wetter”. Simply put, this means the water can penetrate a plant more effectively and deeper. This in turn promotes plants to grow better and be more hardy.
    • A salt based system the water is actually harmful to plants, as is evidenced by our lawns and the plants in our garden. Think of the difference between rain water and garden hose water then remember their different effects upon your garden and lawn.
  • Is this a brand new technology, or has there been some experience in actual use?

    • This patented hard water conditioning process has been in use since 1964. We are one of the very first companies to combine this with long lasting KDF filtration, and the only company with an Integrated Five Stage Whole House Water Conditioning and Purification Solution, combined with a 10 Year Factory Warranty and a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
